Here She Comes, Miss Florida - We Think

The Supreme Court hasn't been asked to rule on this - yet - but an apparent voting mishap has led officials to strip the winner of last weekend's Miss Florida pageant of her crown and award it to the first runnerup.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Elizabeth Fechtel of Leesburg had withdrawn from the University of Florida after winning the title last Saturday in St. Petersburg to prepare for September's Miss America pageant.

"Elizabeth has changed her life all around in these last five or six days," said her father, Vince Fechtel Jr.

However, a late change of one judge's vote meant that first runnerup Victoria Cowen of Panama City actually took the crown.

The Times says the Fechtel family "doesn't bear any ill will toward the Miss Florida pageant and believes everything it has been told."
