An 81-year-old woman from Sarasota is walking from Siesta Key to Tallahassee to promote campaign reform.
After losing her husband of 56 years, Rhana Bazzini decided she had to do something. That would be for the 5-foot-3-inch, 94-pound woman to walk from Siesta Key to Tallahassee. She wants the idea to promote that corporations shouldn't be able to control political campaigns by pouring unlimited money into them.
“Well, I tell you, I had no idea what I was getting in for when I came up with this crazy idea, and luckily all of these people who were terribly supportive and much more knowledgeable about what I was doing than I,” Bazzini said. “And they have formed, I have to laugh, they call it my spearing committee, and they have put the logistics of the walk together.”
Bazzini will be walking about 10 miles per day, starting this morning at Castel Del Mare in Siesta Key. She plans to reach to Tallahassee on December 4th.
