The Tampa Bay Lightning’s season ended prematurely with no Stanley Cup in hand. On Monday, a former Lightning captain was dealt a similar disappointing blow. After toiling for 23 years in the National Hockey League, Dave Andreychuk has been passed over, again, by the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Andreychuk skated in 1,639 games, scored 640 goals and holds the record for most power play goals in the NHL with 274. He is a two-time All Star and served as captain of the 2004 Stanley Cup championship Lightning.
Yet, Andreychuk was passed over by Hockey Hall of Fame this year. It was the eighth year of eligibility for the Lightning’s vice president of corporate and community affairs.
The 2016 Hockey Hall of Fame inductees are Eric Lindros, Sergei Makarov, Pat Quinn and Rogie Vachon.
