What to Look for in a Cookbook

Despite the arrival of e-books, actual, paper cookbooks are a star of the publishing world. There are so many to choose from — but how do we decide which to invest in?

Janet Keeler is the cookbook reviewer for WUSF's new food podcast, The Zest. Keeler teaches food and travel writing at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Previously, she was the food and travel writer for the Tampa Bay Times. She's also the author of Cookielicious: 150 Fabulous Recipes to Bake & Share.

In an interview with host Robin Sussingham, Keeler talks about the qualities that make some stand out from the pack.

"For me, a cookbook represents inspiration. I love a cookbook that inspires me to get into the kitchen," Keeler says.

"I host a food podcast" is a great icebreaker at parties.
