Students and faculty at the USF School of Pharmacy told the media today that $3 million is not enough.

The Florida Senate originally proposed a $6 million cut to the USF College of Pharmacy, but later reinstated half of it.

The dean of USF's College of Pharmacy, Dr. Kevin Sneed, is working to get back the original whole amount.

The negotiations for next year's budget are still ongoing but Sneed said it's not over until it's over.

Even though the senate cut $3 million from the program, Sneed said he's confident budget negotiators in Tallahassee will reinstate the money because the College of Pharmacy needs the $6 milllion.

"We already have $4.2 million in salaries in terms of faculty and staff and all the people and that's just the personnel--before we get into all the equipment required for the students," said Sneed.

Sneed said the College of Pharmacy is an investment for the state.

"How can you not invest in us? One single dollar of commitment to our program from the state of Florida is a commitment for innovation and transformation in the future back to the state of Florida," Sneed said.
