It's been a rough couple of weeks for Florida schools. Last month, Newsweek ranked a handful of Florida universities among the country's least rigorous and biggest party schools.
And earlier this week, officials launched an investigation against the country's largest online educator, which happens to be based in the Sunshine State.
So officials at New College of Florida are savoring this bit of positive press: U.S. News & World Report has named the Sarasota school among the nation's top public liberal arts colleges.
New College, which had an enrollment of 845 students last fall, is in some pretty respectable company:
- United States Naval Academy
- United States Military Academy
- United States Air Force Academy
- Virginia Military Institute
- New College of Florida
New College is like the Meryl Streep of this category. It has made the list for the the last seven years, according to the Bradenton Herald.
Earlier this year, New College also received props from the Princeton Review as the No. 3 best value college in America.
