An organization that advocates animal rights is hosting a free training today for Tampa area law enforcement on animal cruelty and staged animal fights investigations.
"This training is providing local enforcement the tools to identify and to prevent animal cruelty," said Kate McFall, Florida State Director of The Humane Society of the United States.
"I've been told that animal crime are not covered in their regular training to become law enforcement officers," she said. "So, for many officers who have not seen it in their job it's new information and it's critical."
McFall said this is the sixth law enforcement training session held in Florida. The organization plans to organize more training in the near future throughout the state.
