For 10 years, student journalists in St. Petersburg have had the opportunity to present their work at a Studio@620 exhibit, thanks to a partnership with Journeys in Journalism and the Tampa Bay Times.
Students journalists from Melrose Elementary, John Hopkins Middle and Lakewood High schools get to showcase their photographs, writing and multimedia.
This year, they will be live tweeting the event. Cynda Mort, coordinator of the Journeys in Journalism program, says this is a great way for students to feature their work.
"It's going to be a really exciting event, it's our 10th birthday of the exhibit and so we are going to have birthday cake for everyone," Mort said. "The John Hopkins middle school drum line is going to be performing out front to draw folks in, and we will have student docents stationed all around the exhibit to lead the people who come through."
The opening event is Friday from 5-8 pm at the Studio@620 in St. Petersburg. The exhibit will be open until October 2nd.
