A dozen residents of the Seven Springs Travel Park in Pasco County found themselves stranded in their homes this afternoon.
At least three feet of water covered the ground making it difficult for many of the elderly residents to wade through.
By boat, rescue workers with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Wildlife Commission took the residents to safety.

One man enlisted the help of his friend with a backhoe to rescue his wife. They rode on the front shovel portion on the machinery above the water while the friend drove.
Robert Alexis and his wife of 60 years, Janet, were among those evacuated.
"They said they were going to put us in a shelter I think. I hope so. A shelter will be good for us. "
Pasco County has two shelters available for flood victims. Alexis says he's grateful to be provided a warm place to stay and food. A small comfort considering he doesn't know when- or to what- he'll be coming home to.
"I signed up for a cruise, but this is a little much," he jokes. "No frills."
Most of the trailers in the park were not damaged by the high water. If the levels rise a few feet, however, this will change.
