"WallKitty" Rescued in Tampa

We've probably all heard about a cat up a tree needing to be rescued by firemen, but a feline in Tampa decided to take that story in a whole new direction after getting trapped inside a wall at the Twiggs Street Parking Garage Thursday.

The City of Tampa tweetedout a picture of the confined kitten earlier Thursday with a note saying "Emergency! Tampa PD is working on getting a cat out of a wall at the Twiggs St Garage." Later messages updating the rescue included the tag #WallKitty.

Garage employees asked for assistance after hearing meows coming from a narrow crack in the wall. Police officers ended up calling in firefighters from Tampa Fire Station ENG1. Using a pair of poles, it took about 50 minutes to safely extricate the cat from the wall.

On the city's Facebook page, they say Hillsborough County Animal Services will check the cat for a microchip implant.

There's no word on how the cat got into the wall in the first place.
