A tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, and forecasters expect it to gradually strengthen.
The storm is the Atlantic’s fourth tropical depression of the season. On Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center in Miami says it’s located about 1,665 miles (2,675 kilometers) east of the Windward Islands. It has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph) and is moving west at 13 mph (20 kph).
The storm currently poses no threat to land; there are no watches or warnings in effects.
Forecasters with the hurricane center say the depression is likely to strengthen to a tropical storm later Tuesday. They expect continued gradual strengthening over the next two days.
