Agriculture and forestry leaders are meeting in Gainesville on Monday to talk about farming and ranching as part of the climate change solution.
Lynetta Usher Griner, logger and co-chair of the event, said Congresswoman Kathy Castor of Tampa plans to participate.
Castor chairs the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.
Griner hopes the congresswoman will walk away more informed.
"She'll be meeting with someone from the aquiculture industry, from ranching, from crop production and also a dairy man. Then after, we'll have a forum in Gainesville where she'll hear from more growers about what we're calling ‘climate smart ag’,” she said.
This conversation comes as the U.N. warns that agriculture must change to prevent worse effects of climate change.
