In the Spring 2016 session, Rep. Richard Corcoran, R-Land O' Lakes, and Sen. Tom Lee, R-Brandon, served as chairmen of their respective Appropriations Committees, and led state budget negotiations.

This week on Florida Matters, (Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 a.m.), we’ll feature a newsmaker conversation with him.

Corcoran, who is serving his fifth year in the Florida House and who once served as U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio’s chief of staff, is a conservative known to stand up against his own political party.

He recently spoke with WUSF's Carson Cooper about the upcoming presidential election and his legislative priorities, including thoughts on some key education policies, term limits for judicial nominees and gun bills.

I’m the lucky one who guides the WUSF News team as it shares news from across Florida and the 13 amazing counties that we call the greater Tampa Bay region.
Carson Cooper served as host of WUSF’s "Morning Edition" for 18 years. He took the job in 2000, after working in Tampa Bay radio for decades. He was a fan favorite of our listeners, bringing his friendly and familiar voice to listeners as they started their weekday mornings.
