A playroom in the home of two foster mothers in Sarasota who at one point were caring for seven kids at once.

This week on Florida Matters we're talking about the challenges those who work in the foster care system are facing and how it impacts the children they serve.

In this preview, we hear from Yvonne Marrone, Community Outreach Coordinator with the Guardian Ad Litem Program in Hillsborough County, and Tampa Bay Times reporter Chris O'Donnell.

O'Donnell has reported that Hillsborough is leading the state in child removals, and Florida Matters host Robin Sussingham asks him why.

I’m the editor for Your Florida, a project focused on connecting people with state government and policies passed in Tallahassee that affect their lives. I’m passionate about highlighting community efforts to improve the quality of life in our state and am committed to holding those in power accountable when they fail to prioritize the needs of people they serve.
Robin Sussingham was Senior Editor at WUSF until September 2020.
