Florida Matters Preview: The State Of Florida Tourism

Visit Florida Facebook page

This week on Florida Matters we're talking about the latest in tourism. The state's number one industry was at the center of a battle during this past legislative session.

The agency Visit Florida ended up keeping its state support despite efforts to slash its budget. But lawmakers also added new rules in an effort to make Visit Florida more transparent.

In this preview, Florida Matters host Robin Sussingham talks with Maryann Ferenc, a Visit Florida board member and owner of the restaurant Mise En Place in Tampa, and Dr. Abe Pizam, Dean of the University of Central Florida's Rosen College of Hospitality Management, about one of the biggest controversies surrounding Visit Florida. It involves a $1 million contract with the rapper Pitbull.

I’m passionate about highlighting community efforts to improve the quality of life in our state and am committed to holding those in power accountable when they fail to prioritize the needs of people they serve.
