Florida Cases of COVID-19 Reaches 985,297 On Saturday

Saturday’s report from the Department of Health shows the percentage of positive coronavirus tests topped 7% for the fifth time this week.

Saturday’s report from the Florida Department of Health shows 6,276 people tested positive for the coronavirus since Friday. That brings the statewide total to 985,297.

The greater Tampa Bay region reported 1,091 new positive tests, the 10th day out of the past 11 the number of new cases in the region has been over 1,000.

Of the people tested for the first time, 7.14% were positive.

The state also reported 81 new deaths related to coronavirus, including 18 in the greater Tampa Bay region. Ten of the deaths reported Saturday were from Pinellas County.

A total of 18,442 people have died in Florida due to complications related to the coronavirus since the pandemic began.

The deaths recorded by the state since Friday’s report may have occurred days or weeks earlier.

Here are the latest figures according to the Florida Department of Health.

  • Positive Tests – 985,297
  • Deaths - 18,677
