The National Bar Association which is a large network of predominately African American attorneys and judges discussed the legal and social effects of the Trayvon Martin case.
Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin after an altercation and claimed self-defense through the "Stand Your Ground" Law.
The panel discussed the Trayvon Martin Foundation working to help analyze the "Stand Your Ground" Law.
The family's attorney Benjamin Crump says that law needs to be changed.
"The first step is you cant be the aggressor, pursue, confront, and pick a fight- as my boys at home call it, pick a fight and then kill somebody and say 'I was standing my ground,'" he said.
The panel said the Trayvon Martin case did not only have a legal effect but a social one too.
Clinton Paris of the Tampa Organization of Black Affairs says the case affects young people who identified with Trayvon Martin.
"But the implication to young people is that if they can't look to a future where our system we operate under provides justice, you lose them," he said.
