The mother of Trayvon Martin has released a Mother's Day video calling for all states to re-examine their Stand Your Ground Laws.
Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman claims he shot the 17-year-old Martin in self-defense under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges.
Sybrina Fulton says in the video released today on Russell Simon's website globalgrind.com that this weekend will be a painful Mother's Day for her... her first Mother's Day without Trayvon.
"Just like me, 30,000 mothers lost their children to senseless gun violence last year," says Sybrina Fulton on the video. "Nobody can bring our children back. But it would bring us comfort if we could help other mothers the pain we will feel on Mother's Day... and every day for the rest of our lives."
Fulton says people should ask governors around the country to re-examine self-defense laws like Florida's.
