Cell Phone Users Seeing Issues With Tampa 911 Calls

WUSF Public Media

Some 911 calls from cell phones are not getting through to Tampa Police and Fire Rescue dispatchers.

Police officials say they don't know how widespread the problem is, as some cell phone calls are getting through. Landlines are not affected. The system experienced similar disruptions Thursday night.

Cell phone users experiencing problems are asked to either call from a landline or call the police non-emergency line at 813-231-6130 or the fire and medical non-emergency line at 813-232-6805.

Authorities are currently working with cell phone service providers to correct the problem.
