Small Helicopter Crashes into Orlando Home, 1 Dead

One person was found dead after a small helicopter crashed into an Orlando house.

The Orlando Sentinel reports the helicopter crashed Sunday afternoon, scattering debris and starting a small fire.

Orlando Fire Department Assistant Chief Hezedean Smith said when the flames were put out, firefighters found the person dead inside the guest house.

Smith did not identify the person.

Orlando Police Department spokeswoman Wanda Ford said authorities are working under the assumption that the victim was from the aircraft because no one was inside the guest house at the time of the crash.

FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the Robinson R44 helicopter had taken off from the Orlando Executive Airport and flew about two miles before it crashed.

Officials said it's too early to say what caused the crash.
