A flood watch is in effect for Pasco County until 8 p.m. Thursday evening. More widespread rainfall is forecast to return throughout the week.

The Pasco County Flood Recovery Center is open and located on the second floor at 7536 State St., New Port Richey.
The Center is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to assist flood affected residents with housing resources, cleanup and replacement of essentials related to flooding.
Representatives will be available from Pasco County Human Services, Pasco County Elderly Nutrition, Pasco County Veterans Services, The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross and additional community service organizations.
Pasco County Public Transportation staff will be at the FRC to answer questions related to transportation and offering free bus passes for residents needing transportation to the FRC. For residents needing transportation to the FRC, they can go to any PCPT fixed route bus stop and tell the bus driver that they need to go the FRC.
The driver will then issue them free bus tickets covering the trip to and from the Center. PCPT’s fixed route bus system map is online at www.ridepcpt.com. For individuals with disabilities who need transportation to the FRC, please call the PCPT Paratransit line at (727) 834- 3322 to arrange transportation.
Pasco County has assessed homes and commercial properties in the affected areas and as of Wednesday, August 12 at 6 p.m.:
- Number of homes destroyed- 46
- Homes with major damage- 32
- Homes with minor damage- 258
- Homes affected- 44
- Commercial properties affected- 36
Officials said the watersheds remain at full capacity and additional rain or runoff will not be absorbed. Those areas which were previously flooded should prepare for additional flooding. Areas within the 100 year flood plain associated with Bear Creek may experience additional flooding.
Cypress Creek at Morris Bridge Action Flood level of 9.71 feet. It is in a minor flood stage.
The Anclote River is at Action Flood Level of 17.9 feet. Evacuation is not recommended until 23 feet. The river is not predicted to reach that level.
Pasco County Emergency Management reached out to FEMA to do a preliminary damage assessment. FEMA conducted a joint damage assessment with Pasco County on Thursday, August 13, 2015.
Once the joint damage assessment is completed, Pasco County will be notified what assistance can be provided. The joint damage assessment is anticipated to take about one week to complete.
