One person has died after a car crashed off a fishing pier near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on Wednesday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities have identified the driver, who was killed, as 52-year-old Richard K. McCrocklin, of Eustis.
The crash was reported after 2 p.m. on Dec. 23.
The driver crashed his car through the concrete barrier at one end of the pier, authorities said.
Rescue crews recovered the car, a red Mercedez, about two hours after the crash was reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
