Tampa Police Arrest 25 During 2016 Gasparilla

The 2016 Gasparilla pirate invasion and parade this past weekend wasn't quite as rowdy as in past years, according to numbers released Monday by the Tampa Police Department.

They made 25 arrests; two of them were for felonies, while 23 arrests were for misdemeanors, for things like marijuana possession, boating under the influence and disorderly conduct.

And for all of the drinking -- which is allowed along the parade route by those 21 and older -- Tampa Police issued just one citation for an open container violation.

The arrest totals are down dramatically from the 2010 parade, when more than 400 were arrested. Last year, they arrested two dozen, while 40 arrests were logged in 2014.

Here is the list from the Tampa Police Public Information Office:

Final Gasparilla 2016 statistics 2 Felonies ·      1 Battery on LEO ·      1 Aggravated Battery/Active Warrant 23 Misdemeanors ·      4 Possession of Marijuana ·      3 BUI ·      3 Disorderly Conduct ·      3 Resist arrest w/o violence ·      2 Trespass after warning ·      1 Battery ·      1 Open Container/Striking a police horse ·      1 Open Container ·      1 Petit Theft ·      1 Possession of a synthetic drug  ·      3 Adult Underage Drinking 1 open container citation
