Thursday, March 31 was the last day for Tampa Bay area residents to make suggestions on the amenities and activities that will be offered in the area approaching the new St. Petersburg Pier.
The city, and designer Wannemacher Jensen Architects, began soliciting community feedback on the pier approach March 15 when designers presented the preliminary designs to the public.
Pier communications manager Kristin Brett said more than 1,300 have already offered ideas through their online survey. People have suggested parks for children and an area for residents to dock their boats, Brett said.
"Hopefully there will be enough mutual points of interest where they can accommodate most everyone," she said. "We can't say that the pier will be all things to all people, but hopefully it will come pretty darn close."
Preliminary design plans include two restaurants, a picnic grove and a kayak rental facility. Brett said the idea is for the new pier area to be more than just a road out to the pier like the current approach.
The data received through the online survey will be considered when designers create final concepts plans this summer.
