Turning Tropicana Field Into A Downtown Oasis

Wikipedia
Tropicana Field sits on an 85 acre parcel of land open for redevelopment if the Rays move.

The Tampa Bay Rays are looking to move out of Tropicana Field. So now, the question is what should the city of St. Petersburg move onto the 85 acres where the “Trop” sits?

Should there be parks with bike trails? How about retail shops and restaurants? What does the preferred residential setting look like - townhouses, single homes or condominium towers? And how should office buildings be integrated?

The city wants ideas as it shapes a master plan for the area where Tropicana Field now sits.  No idea is too grand or too small.

Mayor Rick Kriseman said in a news release that redeveloping the Tropicana land is “a unique opportunity to reimagine not just the site, but the entire downtown.”

Public meetings to discuss the Tropicana Field redevelopment are set tonight at 6:30 at the Coliseum, 535 4th Ave N, St. Petersburg, and Tuesday at Campbell Park Recreation, 601 14th St S, St. Petersburg, also at 6:30 pm.
