Cold Weather Shelters Remaining Open In Tampa Bay Area

The lows in Tampa Bay Sunday night will be near freezing.

Temperatures have been dropping in the Tampa Bay area this weekend, and some counties are continuing to keep cold weather shelters open Sunday night for those in need.

Bay News 9 Meteorologist Brian Linker said we can expect a high of 55 on Sunday, turning colder and breezy tonight with a low of 39.

Monday will be windy and and sunny, but warmer with a high of 68.

The cold night shelters for the homeless will be open on the following dates, times and places:

Hillsborough County:

Hillsborough County partners with the following organizations to provide cold weather shelters:

Jackson Springs Recreation Center, 8620 Jackson Springs Road, Town 'N Country
Opens at 6 p.m. for individuals and families

Pinellas County:

The shelters open between 6 and 6:30 p.m. (Peace Memorial opens at 5 p.m.), accept guests all night long, and close the following morning at approximately 6 a.m.  Shelter guests are provided a hot evening meal, a warm safe place to spend the night and breakfast the following morning.

Families will be placed in family shelters on cold nights.  Families should call 2-1-1 to make these arrangements.

Pasco County:

Cold Weather Shelters will be opened Saturday,  Jan. 7 and Sunday Jan. 8, 2017  at 6 p.m. in Pasco  County.  The shelters will close at 7 a.m. the following day.
