Photos From Gasparilla 2017 Parade And Cleanup

The crowd that crammed onto Tampa's Bayshore Boulevard and downtown for Gasparilla 2017 on Saturday was estimated between 300,000 and 400,000. There's no estimate yet on the amount of trash the paraders and pirates left in the wake.

But according to published reports, the Tampa Police Department said as of 5 p.m. Saturday:

  • Eight people were arrested - one each for disorderly intoxication, public urination, disorderly conduct, possession of an open container, criminal use of a personal ID, and battery.
  • Two arrests for possession of cocaine.
  • 35 people were transported to the hospital.

Those figures are down from the arrest numbers in 2016 when there were 25 arrests.

City workers spent the evening and Sunday morning picking up trash and restoring order to Tampa's picturesque, waterside boulevard.
