More than 80 museums across Florida will participate in Smithsonian Magazine's national Museum Day Live! event Saturday.
Around 20 Bay area museums are waiving admission fees to guests with a free ticket.
Amy Wilkins, Chief Revenue Officer for Smithsonian Media, says the event is timely, particularly for Floridians recovering from Hurricane Irma.
"That opportunity to just play and be curious is perfect," said Wilkins. "Especially at a time when, you know, people are going through what they're going through."

St. Petersburg's Arts Alive! event runs simultaneously with Museum Day Live! on Saturday. Select St. Petersburg museums will serve as donation locations for non-perishable food items, in partnership with St. Petersburg Free Clinic's hurricane recovery efforts.
