A professional development event for young women will be held at the USF St. Petersburg Student Center Ballroom this Saturday.
The Career Café is the Girl Scout Gold Award project for Anne Bauer, a 17-year-old Pinellas County high school senior.
Bauer says she wants to offer 16 to 23-year-old women a chance to learn lifelong professional skills.
"I found something I was passionate about, it was something that I thought I would need that people my age were not learning - how to go into an interview and how we weren't being taught these skills in school," Bauer said. "And I thought it was necessary. Even if these girls aren't starting their careers right now, these skills are very helpful and beneficial for the rest of your life."
Bauer said she has worked hard to make sure that this Saturday is a success. The event will offer resumé building, interview practice, networking and guest speakers.
"I worked with a company to create the logo, I made the flyers," said Bauer. "I have been calling different companies for sponsorships because I have to do all of the funding myself."
The Career Café program begins at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Facebook users can learn more about the event here. To register to attend, follow the link below.
