The Old Glory Veterans Relay is a cross-country walk that began in Seattle in September. Two months later, it finishes up in Brandon on Saturday.

Team Red, White and Blue, the relay's organizers, planned the walk to end on Veterans Day.

The trek is a collaboration among groups of veterans who walk, run or cycle while carrying a flag across state lines.

Bringing the same flag from the Northwest to the Southeast represents the team's hope for national unity. J.J. Pinter, Executive Director of Team Red, White and Blue, describes the scope of the two-month-long relay.

"We move an American flag- a single flag," Pinter said. "We start September 11th, and it ends Veterans Day, and we move [the flag] across the country by people power. So over 60 days, it's going to move 4,600 miles."

Saturday's closing ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. at the Westfield Brandon mall.

"We're gonna really bring the flag in, we're gonna case the colors. And we're gonna end the relay right with a really cool ceremony and a really cool, fun event," said Pinter.

The event will feature a parade, live entertainment, food and beverage sampling and more.
