Lisa Peakes

WUSF All Things Considered Host Lisa Peakes has been honored for having the top radio newscast in the southeast United States in 2017.

Peakes won in the Best Radio Newscast category in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Green Eyeshade Awards. Other top honors in that category went to other NPR newsrooms: WUNC in North Carolina and WLRN in Miami.

Peakes, a longtime radio broadcast veteran, has been the host of All Things Considered at WUSF Public Media since 2015.

WUSF reporter and Florida Matters host Robin Sussingham also was honored with a Green Eyeshade award. She won second place in the Feature Reporting category for her story called “Violins of Hope” , which also has been recognized with awards from the Florida AP Broadcasters and the Edward R. Murrow contest sponsored by the Radio and Television Digital News Association.

The Green Eyeshades honor the best in radio, TV, print and online journalism in 11 southeastern states. It’s sponsored by SPJ, the oldest journalism professional organization in the United States.

I’m the lucky one who guides the WUSF News team as it shares news from across Florida and the 13 amazing counties that we call the greater Tampa Bay region.
