A 4-year-old Tampa boy is back with his parents after a dispute over his cancer treatment.
The parents of Noah McAdams wanted to treat his leukemia, which was diagnosed in April, with CBD oil and fresh foods. But the boy’s grandparents won temporary custody in May and made sure the boy received chemotherapy.
On Monday, Judge Thomas Palermo ordered the boy returned to his parents, Joshua McAdams and Taylor Bland-Ball.
Their attorney, Brooke Elvington, told Bay News 9 the parents now support standard treatment.
“This is what needed to happen,” Elvington said. “It's what needed to happen from the very beginning of this case. I'm sorry that it took as long as it did. But to have this before Christmas is wonderful.”
Noah has completed his first round of chemotherapy and his leukemia is in remission.
An endangered child alert was issued in May when Noah’s parents didn’t show up for a scheduled chemotherapy treatment. They were found in Kentucky and Noah was returned to Tampa.
