As COVID-19 continues to spread throughout Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the formation of a Task Force on the Safe and Limited Re-Opening of Long-Term Care Facilities in Florida.
DeSantis says the task force will develop guidelines on how to safely allow family members to visit their loved ones in Florida’s long-term care facilities, where visitation has been prohibited since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We discussed this with Marty Goetz, CEO of River Garden Senior Services; Dr. Aileen Marty, an infectious disease specialist at FIU’s College of Medicine; and Mary Daniel, a task force member who was invited to join after she took a dishwashing job in a long-term care facility where her husband is a resident in order to see him.

One of them was Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, who recounted his experience with COVID-19 for us.
