May Zayan
May Zayan is an intern for Health News Florida, where she scours the web to find the most important and fascinating stories happening in the world of health and health care, and helps deliver those stories to the HNF audience through the daily eAlert newsletter.
Born in Cairo, Egypt, May speaks fluent Arabic, and though she considers Tampa her true hometown, she has called several other places home, including Miami, New York and Los Angeles. May has a B.A. in design and a M.A. in architecture, both from the University of Florida.
Meshing her design background with her passion for multimedia and investigative journalism, May is currently pursuing an M.A. in Journalism and Media Studies at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. May's work has been featured on PBS's Washington Week with Gwen Ifill, as well as on her blog, where she covers social issue cross-overs between the West and Middle East.
