Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa will be open for early voting during the 2020 general election.
Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer announced Friday that the county reached agreement with the Tampa Bay Lightning to make the arena one of 25 early voting sites across Hillsborough County.
The arena has no scheduled events though the Nov. 3 election.
"I'm seeing our community come together in a very powerful way to support this election," Latimer said in a news release. "The Tampa Bay Lightning is one of many community partners who are getting involved through voter registration drives, voter education, poll worker recruitment and more.”
Voters will be able to cast their ballots at the sites. They can also drop off their mail ballots at curb-side tents that will be set up outside each location.
Officials urge voters to allow for extra time due to safety measures that will be in place to guard against the coronavirus pandemic, including limited capacity, social distancing, and time to clean equipment and surfaces.
Voters who prefer to vote from home can visit VoteHillsborough.org or call (813) 744-5900 to request a mail-in ballot.
The early voting sites across Hillsborough County will be open from Oct. 19 through Nov. 1.
