Incumbent Republican Gus Bilirakis earned another term in Congress and Pasco County voters approved a countywide tax referendum.
Bilirakis retained his seat in the U.S. House in Florida's 12th congressional district, which represents Pasco and northern Pinellas counties. He defeated Democrat Kimberly Walker with 70 percent of the vote.
Pasco voters easily reapproved the Penny for Pasco tax referendum that has been in effect for 18 years and has generated $1 billion for county school improvements and government expenses such as sheriff's patrol cars and traffic improvements. The 1 percent sales tax will be in effect for for another 15 years.
