In Florida, 13 percent of eligible voters are Hispanic. But not all Hispanics vote the same way.
This week, both Mitt Romney and President Obama are giving dueling speeches to Latino elected officials meeting in Orlando.
It's a sign of just how important the Hispanic vote is in swing states like Florida. But USF political science professor Susan MacManus says Hispanic voters in Florida are a diverse group.
"I think people make a real big mistake by assuming that Hispanics are a cohesive voting block," said MacManus, "and in fact out of all the different races and ethnicities, a larger percentage of Hispanics are actually independent."
Florida has a much more diverse Hispanic population than other states. Cuban-Americans still outnumber other groups, but Puerto Ricans and Mexican-Americans are close behind.
A recent Quinnipiac Poll shows Obama leading Romney among Hispanics in Florida, 49 to 39 percent.
