Former Gov. Charlie Crist will speak at the Democratic National Convention next week in Charlotte, according to ABC Action News.
A day has yet to be set.
The news follows Crist's announcement Sunday that he is endorsing President Barack Obama for reelection.
Some pundits predict the move is just a step in Crist's bigger plan.
The Miami Herald wrote: "It's looks like yet another indication that Crist, an independent, plans on becoming a Democrat and running for governor.''
Crist switched from the Republican party to independent in 2010 during his fight against Marco Rubio for the U.S. Senate.
