U.S. Sen. Rand Paul spoke to a crowd of around a hundred people in Sarasota over the weekend.
The potential presidential candidate was hosted by the Republican Party of of Sarasota, who recognized him as the 2014 Republican of the Year.
During his speech, Paul highlighted some of his goals for attracting minority voters who may not typically vote Republican.
"Showing up and telling people that we care about them, where they live and how government interacts with them, I think there is no (...) limit to what we can do as a party, and I want to be a part of that and I hope you do too."
Paul spent a sizable part of his speech criticizing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her decisions involving Libya. Clinton is considered the front runner for the potential Democratic party nominee.
Rand Paul's possible run for president in the 2016 follows closely behind his father Ron's 2012 presidential campaign.
After speaking briefly at the rally, Paul left to attend a VIP Reception at the Bobby Jones Golf and Country Club.
