Flickr

Candidates wanting to run for political office in Florida had until noon today to qualify. Races ranging from U.S. Senate to local school district seats are up for a vote, starting with party primaries on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Winners in those races, or those who didn't face party opponents will face off  in the Nov. 8 general election.

WUSF News has compiled lists of candidates who will be vying for votes in races across the Tampa Bay area. To see who is competing, click on the individual county or other races for more details. (Note: Elections offices are updating their lists all day Friday, and we will update as soon as we receive the information.)

And stay tuned to WUSF 89.7 today and throughout the election season for updates on different races and issues affecting Tampa Bay area voters.
