Here's a twist: A Republican candidate attacking his Democratic opponent for his ties to Donald Trump.
Republican U.S. Rep. David Jolly released a video on social media Tuesday chastising Democrat Charlie Crist for trying to tie him to Trump.
In it, Jolly points out that he hasn't endorsed Trump, yet Trump helped Crist raise money several times when Crist was a Republican. That includes at least two fundraisers when Crist successfully ran for governor, one of which Trump said raised $1 million.
Jolly said in a phone interview that this could be the only race in the country where the Republican is using Trump against the Democrat. And he said Crist is lying about his opponent and hiding from his past.
Crist campaign spokesman Kevin Cate called the video bizarre and said that Jolly supports the Trump agenda.
