About 15 protesters assembled at Attorney General Pam Bondi's Tampa office Thursday.
They were protesting her decision not to sue Trump University around the same time Bondi received a $25,000 donation from the Donald J. Trump Foundation.
Kelly Benjamin of Tampa for Justice walked into her Tampa office with a $50,000 check made out to Bondi. She wasn't there and the check was rejected by her staffers.
"Pam Bondi has indicated that she does take kindly to bribes," he said. "So, we'll continue to try to bribe her for justice as opposed to bribing her for personal gain, which is what Donald Trump has done."
Benjamin said that he wanted Florida to join a multi-state lawsuit against Trump University. The lawsuit alleges that the school fleeced customers with unfulfilled promises to succeed in real estate.
Also, the Florida Democratic Party Thursday filed an election complaint against Trump. They claim he violated Florida election laws earlier this year when he reimbursed his foundation $25,000 for an illegal contribution to the Bondi-controlled political committee And Justice for All. But that donation violated federal tax law, because charities cannot contribute to political causes.
