Constitution Revision Commission To Meet In Tampa

Constitution Revision Commission

The Constitution Revision Commission is one of five ways Florida can amend the state constitution, but it only happens once every 20 years.

The 37-member revision commission has been traveling the state since March to listen to input from Floridians about potential changes to the Florida Constitution.

On Wednesday, May 17, the commission will hold their next public hearing in Tampa at the Dale Mabry campus of Hillsborough Community College, 4001 W. Tampa Bay Blvd., DSTU Auditorium Room 111, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Earlier in the day, the public is welcome to attend a rules workshop hosted at the same location from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Any amendments proposed by the commission will be placed on the 2018 General Election ballot. They will need a 60 percent vote to pass.

Video of all public hearings and meetings held by the CRC is available on The Florida Channel website. Public hearings will be live streamed by The Florida Channel. You can also receive updates by following the CRC on Twitter (@FloridaCRC) and on Facebook.

I took my first photography class when I was 11. My stepmom begged a local group to let me into the adults-only class, and armed with a 35 mm disposable camera, I started my journey toward multimedia journalism.
