In Helping Low-Income Workers, 'Money Alone Would Not Solve the Problem'

Victor "Joseph" Doxa was a successful businessman with a six-figure salary and 7,000-square-foot home.

Then came the Great Recession.

Business dried up, and Doxa soon found himself living with his wife and four children in a studio apartment at Metropolitan Ministries. He eventually found work again, and today Doxa is a 50-year-old pastor with two employees on his ministry’s payroll. He also serves on the board of the nonprofit that once helped him.
