Telling Tampa Bay Stories is a new project from WUSF News, where our journalists will be visiting some of the region’s lesser-known spots -- to record stories from members of those communities.

We featured some of those stories this week on Florida Matters.

Recently, we met with residents at the "Carter G. Woodsen African American Museum" in St. Petersburg -- including a man who recalled being a bit on the mischievous side as a child.

Thomas "Jet" Jackson was among those who shared their stories recently with WUSF News and USF St. Petersburg journalism students.

Lottie Watts was our Florida Matters producer from 2012 to 2016. She also covers health and health policy for WUSF's Health News Florida .
Carson Cooper served as host of WUSF’s "Morning Edition" for 18 years. He took the job in 2000, after working in Tampa Bay radio for decades. He was a fan favorite of our listeners, bringing his friendly and familiar voice to listeners as they started their weekday mornings.
