Share Your Florida Roadside Attraction Memories

It’s the height of summer and there’s no better time to share your memories of Florida's roadside attractions. This week, WUSF’s Florida Matters is taking a look at some classic places that don’t fit the definition of modern theme parks. And it’s made us take a look back.

Here’s a snippet of a trek my family took to the Citrus Tower in Clermont in 1969. (I’m the little girl in the grainy home movie). Back then, when my parents and siblings piled into their un-air-conditioned blue Ford station wagon and headed down U.S. 27, the citrus store and observation tower offered a 360-degree view of the groves in Central Florida.

Do you have a favorite snapshot from the past or present of a place you treasure here in the Tampa Bay area or elsewhere in Florida? From Marineland to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, we want to see how you enjoy Florida's getaways.

Share it on facebook, twitter (@wusf )or on instagram (@wusfpublicmedia) with the hashtag #FLAttractions. We'll compile the memories all week long, so join us!

I’m the lucky one who guides the WUSF News team as it shares news from across Florida and the 13 amazing counties that we call the greater Tampa Bay region.
