In the new play at Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota, a college professor is on the verge of a breakthrough in her work when she is accused of violating the school's DEI policies.

The proposed institute would promote “tolerance of opposing views” and “engage such views in civil discourse,” according to a description of the institute included in the trustees’ meeting agenda.

Republicans tout the bill as an effort to ensure students aren’t being shielded from unpopular views.
