COVID-19 Hillsborough County

In its Sunday report, the Florida Department of Health reported seven people died due to a primary diagnosis of COVID-19. There were 5,520 new cases, with a positivity rate of 7.65%.

The 66 deaths in the state's Sunday report was the lowest since Nov. 28, 2020. There were 4,098 new positive cases in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 5.84%

The positivity rate of 4.91% was the lowest total since October. The state also reported 4,690 people tested positive, along with 107 deaths.

The fewest number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in both the state and the greater Tampa Bay area in nearly five months, but fewer people than normal were tested Monday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Of the 141,056 coronavirus tests recorded Saturday, 8.66% were positive.

The state reported 9,535 new coronavirus cases in its Sunday report, along with 132 deaths.

In its Saturday report, the Florida Department of Health reported 12,311 daily coronavirus cases, but with a steep drop in positivity rate.

Previously, the highest death toll in a day for Florida was 276 on August 11, coming on the heels of a summer surge in cases that peaked in July.

Hillsborough County Commissioners voted to recommended that anyone eating or drinking at outdoor restaurants and bars wear a mask.

While Hillsborough saw a spike in its death toll, several other counties in the greater Tampa Bay region didn't report any deaths. The state reported its lowest number of new positive tests since late December.
