A slate of laws enacted this year continue the state's crackdown on illegal immigration. Advocates say the changes come as Florida's immigrant community is still reeling from last year's policies.

“This decision is a blatant betrayal of the very principles that United States claims to uphold — justice, compassion, and human rights,” said Krizia López Arce, a spokesperson for the Miami−based group, in a statement Friday. The coalition represents more than 50 statewide groups supporting immigrants.

Equality Florida and the Florida Immigration Coalition issued travel advisories to people planning on moving or visiting the state. A USF professor said reaction will be important to watch.

It says Florida may not “be a safe place to visit or take up residence” following legislation issues including abortion and LGBTQ rights.
