The families of T’Yonna Major and Spectrum 13 reporter Dylan Lyons claim the sheriff's office could have prevented the killings. The sheriff’s office said it will ask the judge to throw out the lawsuit and said only the shooting suspect is to blame for the deaths.

Two years after Miya Marcano was kidnapped, a lawsuit was filed against law enforcement deputies handling her case and Orange County leaders.

The man accused in the death of Spectrum News 13 reporter Dylan Lyons was issued an arrest warrant that included two new murder charges.

Spectrum News 13 confirmed that 24-year-old reporter Dylan Lyons was killed while covering a shooting on Wednesday, along with a 9-year-old girl. Her mom and a station photojournalist were injured.

Authorities in Florida don't immediately have a motive for any of the shootings. A TV crewmember and the girl's mother were also wounded and in critical condition at the hospital.

They were part of a group that was waving Nazi flags and yelling slurs on Alafaya Trail in East Orlando.

The unit begin responding to calls this week, the sheriff’s office said. The goal is to de-escalate situations, arrive at peaceful resolutions, and limit arrests and Baker Acts.
